Shoes and Cocktails got a nod in today's edition of the Washington Post's Express paper (see page 36--the blog log). Whether it was from Mere's re-tweet or LC sharing it with her FB friends... I don't know how they got word of the bunny's birthday party, but Ms. S&C really appreciates your support! I'm totally flattered.

 

Can we talk about how good Adam Lambert was last night? I love "Tracks of my Tears," and I love his tender, tender version.

The Churchill's are having a Super Bowl Party. Evite will go out soon. After the Colts lost, I was hoping for an all Pennsylvania match up -- we could have served all PA beer, cooked all types of PA food. It would have been a great theme. Now, I'm a tad uninspired with Pheonix vs. Pittsburgh. I'm still planning to make lasagna, and would be happy if others brought other food items (maybe an antipasta, salad, delicious dessert?).

And I welcome any other ideas for this Cardinal-Steelers game.

If you haven't already heard (then, you should be on facebook), Katie pushed out 7 lbs 5 oz Calvin yesterday, sometime after 11pm. After 11 hours of labor, Katie is tired but Jack's baby bro is doing well. They should be going home on Sunday. Hooray for the newest member of the Briscoe family -- we can't wait to meet you!

If you haven't already heard, the Shoes & Cocktail enterprise has expanded. We are very, very excited to have LC's younger sis, Miss Mojito (or Miss M for short) as a regular blogger. Wow, it has been way too quiet around here. What's everyone up to? I can't go to Josh and Megan's party, so tell me what we'll be missing. Mere, what's new in London? 

My recent days have included: (a) the colts breaking my heart, (b) blair and chuck breaking my heart, (c) obsessing about the election, (d) loving the True Blood series on HBO -- anyone else watching? 

 

Who will help me with the lake recap for mere and scotty? My brain is still a bit fuzzy from the festivities. Here's day 1.

Thursday

I took mere's place and rode up with Julie, Jerry, and Lilly. We got caught in the detour around Gettysburg but fared much better than others who were stuck in traffic for hours. I think LKO got out of her car and sun bathed for awhile??? J&J and I also kept ourselves entertained by playing the state capital game and calling/texting others to find out their ETAs. It rained on and off at the lake on Thursday, so we sat out on the porch in the big house most of the time. Jerry Munk provided burgers for dinner (ground the beef himself), Megan made them better with her fancy cheeses, and Huckleberry took advantage of a prime opportunity and snuck away with 3 raw burgers himself. Here's where things get foggy -- I think I started with Pimms Cup, then made a few people grapefruit cocktails and used my new fave Absolut Ruby Red vodka. Jennie, Jerry & Isabelle, Sarah & Lee (newbies!), LKO, Denny and of course LC, Camrox and Gus were all there for dinner as well -- KSaul came later. Celebrity was played. Up till 3:30am.

Next up: Rainy Friday -- learning to play Euchre, plus more games, more Pimms Cup, much more delicious food, Sara joins us, and Gus continues to be the perfect baby.

I am so excited for the lake. I need a vacation! Mere, we will miss you!!! Anything you'd like us to do, to make you feel like you were there? Day by day recap? Flip cup in your honor?

because my obsession with facebook wasn't enough, I have started a blog: Shoes and Cocktails. i'm still trying to figure out how to manage this thing, so please be patient during the "beta" phase. and, i would love to hear your suggestions/recommendations!

sometimes i hate having access to breaking news. my friday is ruined. i loved him and loved this show.

Friday Night Lights will be back for season 3 - hooray! Honestly, football (in any form) is the only reason to have Direct TV. Subscribers get to see the new episodes first.
