Going on record to say that was the best episode of the wire I have ever seen.
Namand (made me teary), Bubbles testimony (made me cry), Marlo and Chris going down, Lester taking Bunk's place of getting drunk with McNulty, Bunk getting the praise, Keema confessing, Snoop, Michael leaving his brother, poor Dukies, Templeton in hot water, what else? So much happened it was hard to keep up. I don't know how they wrap this up.

senor bananagrabber Posted at 12:32 on Mon, 03/03/2008Definitely the most gratifying episode I've seen. Lester owned that episode.
"This ain't no re-up. This here's resupply." When he was telling the cops to stay off Partlow - like he's literally the only cop who understands what's going on.
I had to pause the TiVo and step away from the TV after he delivered the news to Daniels. Then he played it so cool in the playground with Marlo, not even speaking a word - the complete opposite of the loud-mouthed cops like Collicio running hoppers off the corners.
Finally, his scene with Davis was my favorite. Davis' lines were some of the sharpest of the whole series. I just want to transcribe it and re-read it. "Levy. Who? Levy, the lawyer. I know who Levy is..." I loved it.
And Marlo - finally - raising his voice. "My name was on the streets?!" I loved the way he delivered that line through a clenched jaw - like Michael Corleone in the restaurant with Solozzo.
I'm a little surprised they don't blame Cheese. He's new and therefore he's not loyal to them - nor did he demonstrate any loyalty even to his uncle. He may be in jail with them, but that doesn't mean he isn't just there for show - to throw them off the scent (at least, that's what I'd imagine Marlo might think). If anyone gets popped next week, he's gonna be the first.
Let's talk about Herc and Kima. Anyone surprised? I'm a little more surprised by Kima than by Herc, but she's got integrity - suppose she thinks she's just enforcing the law.
herc and kima
it was the best for me too

I am still holding out hope that Lt. Daniesl and his DA wife bury the story and just let it all slide right by them. There are so many political angles, would it really be that shocking if everyone just decided that it would serve all of their best interests if the serial killer just faded away?
Kima is a total bee-atch. I would actually bet that they do tell her to keep her mouth shut, she gets disgusted and quits the force, and we watch a wordless scene of her packing her stuff, with some funny/insightful one-liner from the morbidly obese cop to end the silence (and the episode) and send her off.
if the imperative to keep this quiet comes from anyone...
senor bananagrabber Posted at 08:41 on Tue, 03/04/2008it'll come from carcetti's chief of staff. that said, too many people know about it for them to realistically think they can get away with it. it'll never happen - just like they ended up shutting down hamsterdam and shit-canning colvin. as carcetti said to him in the last episode, there isn't anything anyone can do with it. and it'd be totally consistent with the way seasons 1 and 2 ended - with huge cases producing only lackluster sentences. the irony is that chris will go away on bunk's murder charge but that the rest will get off. but now, lester's got a lead on levy. whether that produces anything will be left to our imaginations, sadly.
we should start a pool for what we predict the last scene will be.
