Shaun White Rocks.

Since NBC.com will not let me see any of the videos because I am outside the US and everytime I try to find it on youtube it keeps getting shut down by the olympic commitee or NBC? (what is up IOC? - could you please get a youtube page soon so we can watch things?)

So I am going with the Redbull video where they built Shaun a private half pipe so that he could practice the move.

If you didn't see his Olympic run - Really - It was awesome.

So I love watching snowboarding. I hated actually snowboarding because I don't like to do things I am not good at from the start and I suck and snowboarding. So I am going to just stick with skiing as my winter sport, but MAN I love to watch some good snowboarding.

And really - I am not going to get over it, but Kudos to the BBC for showing everything at some point in time (sometimes at 3am) but whatever I don't watch anything in real time anymore so as long as I am able to tape it, that is fine with me. So I have been able to watch all qualifying, quarters, semis and finals of the mens and womens snowboard cross. WHICH WAS AWESOME. There were points during the races where I was screaming at the TV when it was close. Just great tv watching and great sport.

Now - onto the half pipe. Watching all the semifinals. Can I tell you that I love the US snowboarding outft with the snowpants that look like jeans. That's awesome and why has that not been thought of before. Go Ralph Lauren.

I think I will just have a full post about Shaun White because I love that SD boy.

So there is some french snowboarder show has this great french moustash and it is hilarious. The announcer has said he has the symbol of suaveness and sophistication - the traditional french moustash. Hee hee! He looks like Boris from Boris and Natasha.

Recap break

Have to do some work tonight, so while I am going to watch, The Nordic Combined finals, pairs skating and some snowboarding, I will not be covering them becuase work is getting a tad demanding.

Anything with shooting is kind of cool

Another day of recapping. going back to cover it live for today.

Get ready for figure skating

I don't think he will actually do this routine at the Olympics, but I would love it if he did.

Johnny Weir everyone.

Women's Moguls And Short Track

muertemaria's picture

I am unsure about the coveritlive.com thing, so this next event I am just going to do within the main MB.com platform. Might go back to the coveritlive, but we shall see. So onto Women's Moguls Finals. I watched the prelims already. There will be 20 people in the finals. The top ten is a mix of US and Canada and one Japanese. So this is the event where they go straight down a mogul track and then have two jump opportunities where everyone in the prelims were doing a mix of backflips, 360s and some front flips which I really cannot work out how you even do that. They are pretty awesome.

I think for the final some of the top women are going to do some pretty sweet tricks. I don't want to discount their mogul work as well. It is my dream to be able to do moguls that fast and well. I feel like I can do that for about 2 seconds and then I get stuck and freak out.

So it seems that the short track finals has pushed into this taping so I am going to comment on that part. A final for short track skating, it is Apollo Ohno who is in the final with some other people who should totally lose. He is the defending 1500 meter champion. The rest of the group are 2 Koreans also JR Celski who is another American. 17 year old from China and one Canadian. So should be a good match. Love the announcer "This should be a good cracker"

Ski Jumping

As you all know, really the only sports I like are the Olympics and the World Cup. This year, I get both! So the Olympics has started and I am very excited to start my blogging about everything I watch. I have set the DVR to tape almost everything. I am only taping some of the curling and have decided not to do cross country I remember the last olympics and while it is a feat to do it, It is a tad boring to watch.

I will post daily with what I have watched, I am sure I am going to be behind what actually happened, sorry.

Positive - In the UK the BBC has almost the entire olympics on from the beginning with no commercials, almost no sob stories and including preliminary rounds and actually shows everyone competeing. Let me tell you - it is just another experience then watching it in the US. You get to see so many people competing. I love it.  So let's get started. It is sunday and now that I have done brunch, the rest of my day is dedicated to Olympic watching becuase it is cold and gross outside. So a few posts today.

Starting off - Sadness of the first day with the tragic death of Georgian luge slider Nodar Kumaritashvili during a practice run. He was 21 and it was a terrible accident.

Opening Ceremonies

Michael Phelps is a god

I cannot believe that he did that amazing feat. That was just great. That 100 Butterfly was just insane winning by a hundredth of a second? Insanity. Wow Wow. And the 200 IM he just rocked it. Just amazing.

Rebecca Adlington of the UK has done an amazing job in the 400 and 800 free. Crazy fast.

I am sad that the swimming is over. Onto WaterPolo, Diving and Sychro.

I believe that some of those chinese gymnasts are under age.

Just in case anyone missed it. The Hungarian weightlifter Janos Baranyai who dislocated his elbow.

What has everyone else been watching?

Olympics - Another recap

Random thoughts as I try to catch up on my Olympic watching. I am only to Monday so a little behind, but getting there.

Olympic Recap - A little Update

muertemaria's picture

I will do my recap of my trip and other things later this week. Still having issues with posting videos. Links are working again. Sorry abou the delay, but I have to get any sun time that I can. I do have my pictures up here.

First off - I didn't Tivo the opening ceremonies most of the time, there are only about 10 minutes of it that is exciting and it is usually 4 hours long. Something you can totally miss or find on the NBC or BBC online players if you want to see it.

Becuase of my trip, I am a few days behind - Only on Saturday events so please no one tell me what is going on real time. I will get there soon enough. My thoughts so far:

The Olympics are Coming - Get Ready

muertemaria's picture

I am excited for the Olympics to start. Thankfully my DVR is in place so I will be able to blog some of the events, but due to a massive amount of work, I fear that I will not be able to give as many highlights as I would like. To make sure that everyone gets enough Olympics. NBC today launched their online video hub for the 2008 Olympics. It features free on-demand video of over 20 different events.

You have to download a player and it only works on PCs but get it here.
